Rei Hayashimoto, calligraphy artist, studied at the NIHON SHUJI Institute of Japanese Calligraphy in Yokohama and obtained a Shihan in 2005. The Shihan is a master’s certificate of Japanese Calligraphy and Sumié (Japanese painting made in ink from China), which entitles its holder to teach these disciplines. She has been practicing Japanese Calligraphy since the age of four and the Sumié since the age of fifteen.
